Teeth Whitening FAQ’s
How do people get yellow teeth?
Many factors contribute to teeth yellowing. Age, certain medications, and the foods you eat and drink may all be contributors. Surface stains on the enamel of your teeth from drinks like tea, coffee, and red wine, can make your teeth appear yellowish. Tobacco and smoking are also significant causes.
Over time, these surface stains can reach beneath the enamel of your tooth to its dentin, which makes the stain even harder to get out.
Are you sure teeth whitening isn’t dangerous?
Absolutely. Whitening your teeth is a safe process when you follow product guidelines and instructions. The team at BENE Dental offers professional whitening treatments for safe, effective results. You can choose to have your teeth whitened in just one visit or gradually with a take-home whitening kit.
In both cases, the whitening solution is completely safe to put on your teeth and in your mouth. Note that the bleaching agents may cause some non-permanent gum and tooth sensitivity, but this is the only discomfort you might feel.
What is the in-office whitening procedure like?
Professional in-office teeth-whitening is simple and could whiten your teeth by up to eight shades in only one visit.* During your visit, a professional BENE Dental team member will take impressions of your teeth to make your custom trays, and then prepare your mouth for the actual whitening treatment.
Your lips will be retracted, and a barrier will be applied to your gums for protection. A professional grade whitening gel will be applied and a special LED light will shine onto just your mouth for three sessions of 15 minutes. During your treatment, you will get an option to see TV shows, movies, or just listen to music of your choice as you sit back and relax.
You should be comfortable and relaxed between treatments. At the end, your dental expert applies a gel to your teeth to minimize any post-treatment sensitivity you experience. Lastly, they will give you a take-home kit for touch ups and treatment for sensitivity, and demonstrate for you on proper use. Then it’s finished. In less than two hours, you have whiter teeth, a dazzling smile, and a custom take-home kit to use for years!
The BENE Dental team can also provide just the take-home teeth-whitening kits for a less immediate approach to whitening teeth over a couple of weeks.
